How amazing that this giveaway would be posted today. Two years ago TODAY, I met the love of my life, the man of my dreams, my “Superman. When we met, I was 36 and he was 38. Neither of us had ever been married. Neither of us had any children. It was like we had waited our entire life to find one another. I knew almost immediately that he was my “soul mate”, the person who I was meant to marry and with whom I would spend the rest of my life. Two years go TODAY, I met the person who would love me so unconditionally, love me so completely and become my best friend. Words really do not express how much I love him and how blessed I am to be marrying him this June. We hope to start a family and want pictures and mementos of our love story to show our children. Our engagement pictures would be a testament to the fact that true love does exist and that it is always worth the wait! Thank you for the giveaway.
My fiance, Nathaniel, and I would love to win your engagement shoot! We live here in DC, but we are having a “destination” wedding in Ohio, where our families are. Nate’s mom and my grandma have been begging us for engagement photos ever since we got engaged (more than a year ago!) and we haven’t quite made good on that promise. Anyhow, we’d love to have some awesome DC engagement photos – at some of our favorite DC locations – the Spanish Steps in Kalorama, with our dog, and possibly at the Jefferson memorial, as Nate is a UVA alumnus. Thanks for considering us!
I’m pretty sure I owe my engagement to Ms. Hannah Elizabeth Colclazier, as I’m more than certain that the boudoir photo album we collaborated on together, for my now fiance’s 30th birthday sealed the deal. It knocked his sock off; he was so surprised!
Jeff and I have known each other for 10 years now; we met in college. He was actually my first date (late bloomer), but I didn’t dare share that to him until recently. It didn’t go further than the first date, as I summoned him into the “friend zone,” as he would say. He was very persistent over the years. About five years ago, he made another attempt to win me over, and let’s just say his attempt sealed the deal. He’s been making me laugh and smile ever since.
Between the two of us, we’ve covered seven states since then, and we are THRILLED to be together, living in the same zipcode, in the DC metro area with our new adopted rescue pup, Rhonda. Life is good, and I think our family of three would be a great group to photograph.
Thank you Hannah for this amazing giveaway! My hon and I would love to have our pictures taken! We are planning for a wedding in May and would love to incorporate the photos into it somehow. Dan is in the Army and I’d love to have a photo of us together with him in uniform. We would love to have photos taken in DC together and I’m sure it will be a lot of fun!
Hi Hannah,
My fiance Chad and I have a long and interesting love story and we are trying to start a new chapter together. We met in the Army going to war in Iraq in 2003. If there was anything that could test a relationship its seeing each other with no shower for three weeks (ha, ha)! We were the best of friends through the war and our relationship grew when we returned home. But in 2005 after he had already ended his term of service I was redeployed to the desert for another year. I called him on Valentines day from downrange and that is when he told me he wanted us to be together–officially. We are just as in love today as we were back then and have been engaged since last summer. This photo shoot would be a wonderful way to tell visual love story that we can share with our families. I wonder if it is a sign that I saw this the day before our anniversary AND when I am married my last name will be valentine! Thank you for the opportunity to win such an awesome prize.
My fiancé, Pedro and I would like to thank you in advance for the opportunity to possibly win this photo session.
We grow up hearing that if you love something, set it free; if it comes back its yours, if it doesn’t, it never was. We are a true testament of this. We met when we were juniors in different high schools and dated for 2 years. Then We graduated and Pedro decided to join the Navy. At that time we decided that it would be best for the both of us to go our sepreate ways since we were so young and had our whole lifes ahead of us. Thanks to God working in mysterious ways and social networking, we reunited after 7 years. Now at 30 years old, 2 kids later and A Veteran, We reunited again and have been inseparable ever since. We have been dating for 5 years this time around and have been engaged for 5 months. I will be marrying my soul mate on November 16, 2013. Since they say a picture is worth a thousands words we would love for you to help us capture our love with your work. Thanks again for the opportunity!

My fiance I would love to win the engagement shoot! We got engaged on Christmas day 2012 and are so excited to start our married life together. My fiance, Rocky, has served in the military and has been deployed four times. He’s now a reservist but will be deployed again in April to Kuwait. We hope to get married next Spring and are trying to organize as much as we can before he leaves. Our parents are not financially able to help us out so we are paying for our wedding ourselves. We think your photos are beautiful and would really love to win the opportunity to have some amazing engagement photos!
My fiance Andy and I met while we were in school in DC 5 years ago. We were friends for a long time and loved exploring the town together. We started dating about a year after we met. Sadly, this past year we had to move apart to start our residency training – I live in Chicago and he lives in Massachusetts. We have so many special memories of our 4 years together in Washington. We would love to go back and take our engagement photos there! We got engaged this past year despite having a few more years apart – Anytime we spend together is special and going back to DC to take photos is something we have wanted to do. Thank you!
She’s from Nebraska. He’s from California. He was a Cub Scout. She was in 4-H. They met in DC at his place, four blocks from her place. He liked her. She liked him … She’s a morning person. He’s not. He’s funny on purpose. She’s funny by mistake. She’s organized. He’s scattered. His mom used to dress him. Now it’s her job … She watches Bravo. He watches History. He lifts weights. She does Pilates. She likes modern art. He thinks it’s stupid. She has a crush on Josh Ritter. She’s pretty sure he does, too … He loves to cook. She doesn’t. He’s medium-rare. She’s medium-well. He drinks coffee. She prefers tea. He likes expensive wine. Now she does, too … He knows the words to tons of songs. She sings songs without knowing the words. He likes small towns. She likes big cities. He proposed on one knee. She said yes before he finished asking … They are different in many ways, but they love each other … and they know they are picture perfect together.
Hi Hannah! My fiance, Ben, and I were engaged on October 28th. Our wedding is on May 4th–so the clock is ticking! With our six month planning period, its been hectic, to say the least! We had to give up a few luxuries (like engagement photos!) and are making decisions very quickly!! Of course, I wouldn’t give it up for a second. I am so happy that I only have to wait 76 more days to marry the love of my life, my best friend, partner, and confidant. We both love music (we’re both military musicians in DC!), cooking, running, hiking, backpacking, camping, and most of all, just being together! I know that these 76 days will tick away faster than I’d like. There will be stress. There will be exhaustion, exhilaration, tears, and laughter. But in the end, our wedding will happen–those DIY favors will come together and all of the groomsmen will FINALLY get their suits ordered! When all is said and done, we will be surrounded by our family and friends, and promise to start a new and wonderful life together as husband and wife. Help us remember these six crazy months as we prepare for a lifetime full of many more memories!
First of all, because my fiancee Julia is totally adorable (here’s proof! Let’s hear the chorus of awwws! http://www.washingtonblade.com/2012/11/15/able-cain/). Second of all, because lesbian engagement shoots mean getting to photograph not one but two lovely ladies, and who doesn’t love that?
Third, because we are both a tad bit camera-shy and would like to do an engagement shoot so we can get used to the whole thing where apparently when you announce you’re getting married everyone gets obsessed with looking at you, and so we are eager to learn how to break out of our shells! And finally, because all the engagement photos on Hannah’s website have me super-eager to spend a fun, sweet afternoon with my sweetie just enjoying being together, and having it documented for the decades to come.
Thanks for this opportunity!
When my fiance Julian and I went to Cape May a few years ago, everyone there called us “the beautiful couple.” I think that they would all wholeheartedly agree that winning this engagement photo shoot is important for us so that we can document our love! We’re both teachers – and who doesn’t want to support teachers?? We just bought a house together, so we clearly don’t have a lot of disposable income right now. We’re also a little overwhelmed with all that goes into planning a wedding, but getting engagement photos taken would be just the kick in the butt we need to pin down a venue so we can send save the dates and get this whole wedding thing underway! Thanks for considering us! We can’t wait to meet you!!

Funny to talk about why I should win especially after reading all the other wonderful stories! But, I think my fiance, Peter, and I deserve a chance:)
We met through a mutual friend a year and a half ago and we’ve had a very “modern relationship” as our entire friendship, courtship and engagement have been long distance! Peter was living in Utah when we met and I was here in DC – so through many hours of g-chatting, skyping and phone calls, we fell in love. We began visiting each other monthly and spent time with our families very early on – just two weeks after our first official visit, Peter was my date to my sister’s wedding and I joined his family for Thanksgiving. The rest has unfolded with ease and within 9 months we were engaged! We’re getting married in June and are doing our best to plan the Oklahoma event from afar.
I would love to have more photos of us (and professional ones at that)! Between his busy school schedule and my work schedule, we try to visit each other as much as possible on the weekends, but we don’t always remember to take photos nor have we had the extra funds to hire someone.
Having a session with Hannah would be an awesome way to document a bit of our love and to capture some of our favorite places in DC, which we will most likely move from once Peter finishes graduate school. All the best and thank you for offering the session Hannah – anyone would be lucky to win!
When I met my future husband I instantly knew he was the love of my life. His caring and huge heart won me over, and his baby blue eyes just made me melt. Chris and I have been inseparable for the last year and a half, and honestly we wouldn’t have it any other way. What holds us even tighter together is his five year old daughter. She brings such joy into our lives, and we couldn’t be any prouder of her. Our family, is unique, but amazingly perfect. We have each other’s backs, and will never let anything get in the way of each other’s happiness. Our engagement took place in Disneyworld, where dreams really do come true. He had it all planned out to a T, and even got both of our families involved. There’s even a video to show how unexpected and perfect it was. Chris is the most amazing man I have ever met, and I know he is my soulmate. Our dream wedding is in 8 short months. He deserves everything in the world and then some, and would love to gift this to him, so it’s one less financial worry we won’t have to deal with. I have my dress, our venue, even our cake, but we don’t have someone to take our engagement photos. We’d love to win this package, so we can really keep alive what our entire relationship has been based on – blessings. Thanks for the consideration and we hope to hear from you soon!
I haven’t even proposed, but when I do, Hannah will be taking some pictures. Speaking of which, we need to talk soon
