Alex Nunez (one of my favorite people in the world) and Patrick Costello are VERY deserving to win this prize. They are an amazing couple who got engaged last October and are getting married this September. They are adorable together and anyone who is lucky enough to know them can see how in love they are and excited to be together. Besides being a great couple, they are also a little camera-shy so a shoot with an amazing photographer will hopefully do the trick to convince them they are capable of having cute pics of the 2 of them. My best friend, Maureen Meloon, and her fiancé Mike Nothum are both very deserving of this prize engagement session. Maureen and Mike were engaged this past New Years Eve during a trip to Amsterdam and are now in the throws of planning a small and intimate destination wedding for their friends and family. Maureen and Mike are the definition of “happy couple” and wouldn’t think twice about doing anything like this for themselves, which is why I would love to see them win this incredible prize. Maureen has been a very dear friend of mine through thick and thin and I would love to be able to give something to her that would mean so much to the both of them and that they can keep forever. When Erica sent this to me I thought it was just perfect! Once Patrick and I got engaged people started to ask for pictures of us together for various things and we realized we have practically no good ones. It would really be nice to be able to give one to our parents and family that have been so supportive. Also we are getting married in our hometown (Boston – we actually grew up 10 blocks from each other but met in DC!) so it would be so nice to have pictures of us in DC to be able to share and have a little piece of Washington at our wedding. I have a co-worker who just got engaged and she is a very deserving candidate for the WIN. She’s fun and your style and her style match up really well. Plus, she just moved to right outside DC and did I mention she is fun?!? She’s also an educator and is a great one at that. You know we don’t make that much money, but we do deserve great things, and your photography is great.

We just got engaged a little over 2 weeks ago … on a Wednesday night, of all nights, with a very unique engagement: he proposed to me while we were eating gummy candy, and had tied the ring around a gummy worm that is both our favorite flavors … and at first, when he told me I should have the final “green” one, I told him that it was his favorite one too, so he could have it
. When he pulled it out with a diamond ring attached to it I was stunned! he succeeded in surprising me, and we still laugh about how this proposal was “so us” — it shows how much we love each other always, in those simple moments. We would love to be considered for your engagement session

Matthew and I got engaged on 11/11/11 and are planning a 11/11/12 wedding.
Matthew is a Marine and he proposed while he was on pre-deployment leave, a week before he left for Afghanistan
When we first started dating we were in the car and it was 11:11, I told him to make a wish and it became a “thing.” Every time we would see 11:11 we would make a wish, each time it was the same wish.
During his pre-deployment leave we went on a dinner cruise on the Potomac. We wanted to have one last romantic night before he left and he surprised me with roses and a very private proposal. It was the most amazing and special night. When I said yes, he told me that his wish was coming true… so cute…
I have started planning the wedding and Matt has done all that he can to try to help from across the world. I’m sending him menus in his care packages to look at, emailing pictures of reception halls, and trying to distract him from what he’s doing over there while at the same time not overwhelm him with wedding stuff here!
This would be such a blessing to us. He is the most caring man I’ve ever met and truly my hero. I’m so proud of him, not only because he’s a Marine and fighting for our country but because of the man he is as well. I’ve never felt so loved or been treated more like a queen and I have no idea how he does it! I just received flowers the other day in the mail with the note thanking me for finding him, for being his soul mate and for supporting him through this deployment. It’s those little things that keep me strong.
We really want to have an engagement photo session when he gets back and what an amazing surprise it would be if we had won it! and just because of how special our relationship is!

My daughter Emily and her fiance Andrew really deserve this photography package! They have been dating off and on for 7 years and been through a lot of tough times. Emily went to college in TN and they dated long distance, he was here in VA. Then after graduation her lifelong dream of joining the Peace Corps came true and she left a year ago for Kazakhstan. This was hard on their relationship, but they persevered and Andrew was there for her through many tough times. She had a traumatic experience there (which I won’t post) but because of her and some other young women they actually had to stop the program in Kazakhstan because of the danger. So when she came home Andrew proposed in January. They wanted to get marred this fall, but now his dad has been diagnosed with cancer. Help this couple please!! They need a bit of good luck. Thanks!!

I also am voting for Emily and Andrew!!! They have been through a lot, but my favorite thing about them is how much they love each other… not outwardly visable, you have to watch them closely. Second, Emily has the biggest heart I’ve ever known. Her and Andrew have withstood distance throughout their whole relationship and still make sure to know that each other is the priority. I met Emily at Maryville College and Andrew was in Virginia. Then, Emily went to the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan. Things were going great with Andrew, but she took her calling to go and help the world, once again proof of her caring heart and how unselfish she really is.
She ended up coming home because of the danger in Kazakhstan and we are all beyond thankful that she is alive and well.
Not only was it good news that she was home, but Andrew popped the question!! They decided on the fall for a wedding, but now they have found out that Andrew’s dad has cancer.
Emily has always kept her promises, always made people feel like they are worth something and always makes everyone so proud in any endeavor she is part of. I know that she would make your photopgraphy blogs stand out, reach people, and be for the right cause.
As a teacher, I always like to see people that do the right things, even through hurt, get rewarded. I think this would be the perfect chance. Every sweet couple deserves a reward and love, but I feel very confident in saying that if this contest is true and for the right reasons…Emily and Andrew will win.
I saw this post and I wasn’t going to bother entering at first because I didn’t really want to base my answer on the fact that we each have sick parents or my fiance Brian’s also has risks his life everyday at work… Yes, those things are tough, but they don’t define us as a couple. What defines us is how we support one another through all of those things on a daily basis.
I never really allowed myself to let go with anyone before I met Brian. I always had one foot out of the door. I think I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him when he gave up a fun bachelor weekend to attend my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary party in North Carolina. I noticed Brian talking to my grandmother from across the room and when I approached them, she was saying, “Well, expect to not like one another sometimes. Nick and I have probably not liked one another for a couple of years over the past 50 if you add up all the days that we struggled. But it’s worth it.” Brian had asked her what it took to make a 50-year marriage work, and she was all too happy to share what she’d learned.
After we walked away, he said, “I’m up for that. Are you?” On the way home from the trip, we took a detour… to shop for an engagement ring.
I know — and my grandmother agrees — we have what it takes to be married for 50+ years. Because we find joy in our relationship every day despite life’s difficulties and although we know the journey won’t be easy, we have clear eyes and open hearts and complete faith that we can weather the storms together.

Maddy Booth and Greg Seiler deserve to win because not only are they the nicest people you have ever met. They make you believe in love and have such a caring wonderful relationship with each other!
“I’ve never even kicked a soccer ball!” Those are the first words I said to my future husband. I knew that first day that there was something special about Brent. He was kind and patient with me. When Brent gave me a crash course on playing soccer, it was the first of many times that he would encourage me to try and be my very best. He taught me without making me feel embarrassed and assured me that I would do fine. Brent’s encouragement has helped me to get through both major crises- such as the loss of a loved one, and everyday struggles such as getting the motivation to finish a project. Although our relationship seems ordinary, I know that it is much more. Our eleven year relationship has overcome the challenges of a long distance romance. When we went to college, I stayed in Maryland while Brent went to South Dakota. The trip takes 24 hours one way! Brent and I had to base our relationship on phone conversations and e-mail whenever school was in session. (I also racked up a ton of frequent flyer miles!) It was hard but the wait was worth it. This past summer, Brent surprised me with a trip to Virginia Beach. He proposed on the beach underneath a beautiful star-filled sky. An engagement shoot from a fabulous photographer would be the perfect way to capture some of the joy I feel every day that I am with my man. We have never had professional photographs taken, so an engagement shoot would be an amazing opportunity. Thank you for taking the time to read and share the story of so many exceptional couples.
